Life Update

It's now 19 days till I go back to Southampton, where I'll be reunited with the uni girls and the copious amounts of partying and alcohol. Please don't think I'm some sort of alcoholic, as that is not the case! (hey, what girl doesn't love to go out and party?!). The whole concept of time totally confuses me, just because I cannot seem to fathom where it goes. 4 months ago, I was finishing my first year and loving the fact I had months of Summer stretching ahead of me, and now it's almost time to go back to full time education. I swear 2010 has just gone by in a flash, have I blinked and missed it or something, because that's what it feels like!

I'm incredibly excited to be starting my second year, but also very nervous as well. I simply cannot believe that a year ago, I wasn't even a fresher yet, but hey ho! Anyway, my summer is coming to an end, which also means full time work is coming to an end. I know I moan about it, but it's bringing me in lots of lovely dosh, which I so desparately need at the moment, what with rent, bills and the oh so lovely trip to New York in December! (eeeeek!!).

I'm really hoping that I still have loads of time to blog when I'm back at University, especially if I have loads of work to do, as my blog has totally blossomed recently, and I'd hate it to just fade into existance. So I'm determined to dedicate a little of my time to updating all my lovely little bloggers about what is happening in good ole Southampton.

Speaking of New York, has anyone else here been there before? I'm going for three days and I'm extremely excited. I want to know all the best places to visit, eat, and shop! My friend has been before, so she knows all the best places to go sightseeing, but I want some more opinions! All will be very welcome. There are so many different things I want to buy, places I want to visit and I must make sure I have batteries for my camera! I feel like a little kid again, waiting for Father Christmas!

For now my lovelies, xoxo

P.S, Tina Fey is so gorgeous!! xoxo

Guilty Pleasures

Everyone has their guilty pleasures, whatever they may be. So, I thought I'd compile a list of what makes me smile with glee. If I had the time, and if I knew that all you lovely little bloggers wouldn't be bored, then I'd try and make this as picture heavy as possible, but I'd be here all day. Here are a few of my favourites, all for many different reasons.

Gizzi Erskine; Gizzi's Kitchen Magic

One of the best cookery books I've ever owned.

Some of my beautiful best friends

I love spending time with them, as much as I possibly can.

Rick Malambri

The most beautiful guy I've ever seen.

Company Magazine

The best magazine, in my eyes anyway.

Benefit Cosmetics

Yes, they may be expensive, but they are so bloody fantastic.

Topshop

Well, what girl DOESN'T like Topshop?

Things to look forward to this A/W

seeing the girls again, hot chocolate with marshmallows, moving into my new flat, cosy and cute cardigans to snuggle up into, christmas, studying for my second year at university.

The September Issue

My.Favourite.Film.Ever.

The September Issue isn't just a film to me. It's a beautiful eye opener to the world of Magazines, and how hard it really is to get into the Industry. I'm a University Magazine Journalism student, so this is the perfect film for me to watch. Anna Wintour is one of my idols, and it's so nice to see that she isn't that much of a monster, like so many people make her out to be. I must admit, I didn't know what to expect when I first started watching it, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. It's funky, fresh, fast paced & so, well, perfect. Going behind the scenes of Vogue Magazine USA was a real treat for me, and it gave me the best insight to what it's really all about. I totally understand that working on a Magazine isn't going to be easy, and that you have to be 100% committed and so bloody passionate about it all. This film shows that the hours are irregular, you're always on call, and sometimes you might do something completely wrong, but it'll be so worth it in the end. If that was me, I'd be so proud of what I'd achieved when the 2007 Vogue was released. The September Issue is a truly fantastic film, and if any of you are thinking about going into the Magazine Industry, I would certainly recommend you watch this first.

Come Dine With Me

I have a huge love for Come Dine With Me, and I try to tune in and watch it as much as I possibly can. It's hilarious, embarrassing, brilliant and just so light hearted. The narrator, Dave Lamb, is an actual legend and never fails to make me laugh out loud. Even though I'm not particularly interested in cooking myself, I've always had a soft spot for different cooking programmes, and this has to be my all time favourite. It has to be said, there are all sorts of people that star on this, but I honestly think it just makes it even funnier to sit and watch. There are moments when you just want to hide behind your hands, and others when you just want to cry with laughter. It'd be a fantastic opportunity to go onto the show myself (if I was a good cook, I don't think pasta and ice cream would quite cut it!), and it'd definitely be something to tell people for years to come! I've also watched Come Dine With Me Down Under, and although it's quite good, it really isn't a patch on our good ole Britain series! Here's to more episodes (I want some new ones to watch!)

Beautiful Barry M

I've been using Barry M Nail Varnish for ages now, and it's got to be one of the best brands I've ever used. They are only £2.95 for a bottle, or in some stores, 2 for £5. There is a huge variety of different colours, so you're bound to find something you love, or something that will go beautifully with your outfit. From bright blue, to dark purple, to neon orange, there really is something for everyone. I'll be the first in saying that when I bought my first varnish, I didn't really think it'd be THAT good, and that other brands such as Rimmel, Maybelline and Max Factor would definitely outshine Barry M, but I know when I'm wrong. I'm happy to admit that this is my all time favourite nail varnish, and I will most certainly be using it for a very long time to come.

Typical Student

So this time next month, I'll be happily back in the land of Southampton. It's been four months since I was last there properly, and I'm extremely excited to see everyone again. Freshers Week round two is going to be exceptionally messy, and with the knowledge of doing it once already, my friends and I are going to have a blast.

I love a drink as much as the next person, and there are times when you go out, and you just want to get absolutely trashed. I haven't been like that since I left in May, mainly because my friends are home aren't interested in that sort of thing, so I guess I'm having withdrawal symptoms. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an alcoholic, and I certainly do not have a problem, but hey, having a few cheeky drinks with your friends is always a good thing, right?

I'm not counting down the days, because I love being at home and seeing my family and friends, but I know that by the beginning of September, I'll be eagerly awaiting for the 19th September to arrive, the day where I'll be reunited with the Southy girls.

Bring it on!

My Fashion Icons

She's completely unique, and pulls off outfits that wouldn't suit anyone else.

I've gone all deep!

I'm never one to draw attention to the things I can't do. I make the most of things I can do. I try to achieve everything that I've ever dreamed of doing, and I'm a half full glass kinda girl. I don't dwell on anything, because the past is that for a reason. We need to start looking towards the future, and the present, because we might just blink and miss it. We all need ambitions, aspirations and dreams. We all need something to wake up for in the morning, something to look forward too. Who wants to just drift in life? No goals, no fulfilling moments. Where's the enjoyment in that, may I ask? We're here to make our mark, and to have fun at the same time. We're the generation of the moment, so let's bask in it and savour every single little moment. Life is precious, and who knows what might happen around the corner. Live for today, and tomorrow might be just as good. Laugh till you cry, talk non stop, dance on tables, watch 4 films in a row, eat heaps of junk food, go for random drives, make someones day. Life is hard, and there will be tough times, but no one said it would be easy. They just said it would be worth every beautiful little second.

Celeb Rant: Cheryl Cole

So we've all heard the drama of Cheryl and Ashley Cole's broken down marriage, haven't we? If you haven't, seriously where have you been hiding? It's been plastered all over Magazines, Newspapers and even the Internet. Don't get me wrong, a marriage break up is obviously a hard thing to go through, but I do not want to hear all the gory details thank you! I don't care whether Cheryl is in two minds whether to divorce him, or that Ashley is out and about with other girls abroad. Seriously, does everyone think we have nothing better to talk and think about? I'm not one of these people that gets extremely excited when I see Cheryl on the front pages of a Magazine, or conducting Interviews. I've never been a fan of hers, and I don't think I ever will. I'm sorry to say, but there's just something so incredibly irritating about her.

Yes, she's fashionable. Yes, she's pretty, and yes she can 'sorta' sing. There are a handful of other Celebrities out there that are 10x better than her, yet they hardly ever get a look in. It seems to me that the whole world has gone Cheryl crazy, and they've all got on 'cheryl tinted' sunglasses. Please people, get a grip! Another thing, she really ISN'T the best judge on the X Factor, and sometimes, she don't half talk a load of rubbish. She cries over everything, and hugs people even when they don't need to be hugged! Sorry darling, we don't want to see you act like a loser. You are embarrassing, and if I'm being honest, I've always preferred Dannii Minogue.

Saturday 21 August 2010

It's been nearly four months since I broke up from University, and to say I'm missing the Southampton girls would be a total understatement. It's extremely weird to go from seeing them every single day, to not seeing them whatsoever. We were always round each others rooms, pre drinking, shopping & hitting the clubs at night. They seriously are the best bunch of friends a girl could possibly ask for, and going to University was possibly the best choice I've ever made.

When I was at school, I had no idea what I wanted to do, and I didn't really care either. School was there just for the social side, and all I was bothered about was seeing my friends. When I left, I must admit that I didn't get fantastic grades, but I still managed to get to College to study what I loved; Media Studies. I spent three years there, and left with fantastic marks. I then went through the whole agonising process of waiting for Universities to get back to me, and after a while, Southampton Solent got back to me and offered me an Unconditional offer. Probably the best feeling ever when I found that out.

Basically, I suppose this post is going along the lines of how this past year has been the best year of my life, and it's truly opened my eyes to what I want to do when I leave. University is so amazing, and I've made the best friends in the world. Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing is a gorgeous course, and I 100% hope that one day, I'll end up as successful as Victoria White, Jo Elvin & Louise Court.

Here are a few of my favourite photographs from the past year; I promise you I didn't spend EVERY day rather tipsy :)

Style Crush: Jo Elvin

I have many style crushes within the Celebrity and Magazine scene, but Jo Elvin has to be the one that completely outshines the rest of them. She's incredibly classy and extremely beautiful, and it seems she's able to completely pull off every outfit she wears. Being the Editor of Glamour Magazine, you've got to know your fashion and probably wear all the latest outifts, and Jo manages to do this so perfectly. I've chosen this particular photograph as it's my absolute favourite, and the dress is so breathtakingly beautiful. Very few would be able to make this work, but it's completely transformed and she looks like a goddess. I'm so jealous of how pretty she is, and I would literally give my right arm for her wardrobe, (oh and her job!). It's nice to see someone other than the usuals, such as Cheryl Cole, Kate Moss, etc etc, stealing the limelight for once. Jo Elvin is a true style icon, and I totally admire & envy her!

Friday Favourites

I've never done this before, but have just seen this on daisybutter, so thought I'd give it a go!

Shopping
I haven't been shopping in a while, so I went this afternoon after work, and picked up the cutest pair of boots ever. They're light grey, with studs around the top, and just so adorable. I got them from Next, and they were only £22! Bargain, I say!

Receiving cute messages
I love people that send me messages out of the blue, the ones that really make me smile. They're totally unexpected, and I think they're the best. I got the nicest one recently, and I'm hoping it'll lead to something further for my career.

Gizzi Erskine
I've blogged about her before, but seriously, she's such a legend. I'm putting her on Friday Favourites because it's her birthday today, so happy birthday!! <3

Company Magazine/Website
Seeing my name on the Company Website, and my blog link. Amazing, gobsmacked, fantastic. That is all I can say to be honest.

Southampton Freshers Week
I've just been speaking to my Uni friends about Uni & Freshers Week, and I've just started to get insanely excited about going back. I've missed everyone and everything so freaking much, so all I can say is; bring on 19th September! <3

Cocktails
I haven't had one today, but does anyone want to make me a Sex on the Beach? Pretty please, with sugar and chocolate sprinkles on top?

Shall we travel the world?

I want to travel the world, I want to experience things I've never come across before. I want to meet people that are so incredibly brave, and I want to see sights I've only ever seen through photographs. Travelling has always been a huge passion of mine, and I've been extremely lucky to visit places such as Paris, which has to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I'm only 20 years old, and I have the rest of my life to visit as many places as I can literally cram in. I'm so used to my cosy little life in Southampton, that after a while, I guess I take for granted how lucky I really am. In other Countries all over the world, there are people physically fighting for their homes, their lives, their possessions and so much more. From Pakistan to Thailand, the people that live there aren't as lucky as we are, and for that, we should all count our blessings.

I don't just want to travel to have fun and view the sights, I want to travel to help people. I want to volunteer somewhere that could really do with the extra help, and hopefully try and make a difference. However, until then, I've complied a few places that really do have a place in my heart, the places that I yearn to experience and taste the lifestyle...

Los Angeles: The Hollywood sign, the palm tree covered pavements, the sandy beaches, the celebrities. What doesn't Los Angeles have? It's got to be one of the nicest places I've ever seen, and it's somewhere I've always wanted to visit. After I leave University, my friend and I are going to plan an itinerary and Los Angeles will almost definitely be on the top of the list

Great Barrier Reef: I'm not a fan of swimming in the sea, diving or anything like that in general. I hate fishes and seaweed, purely because they freak me out completely. However, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most beautiful places I've ever come across, and it's one of the places on my Bucket List (100 things I want to do before I die). Can you imagine when you're older, telling your grandkids that you went here? You experienced the most beautiful place in the world? That is definitely something I want do be able to say, and I'm determined I will.

Sydney: I've only ever been to Australia once before, and that was when I was 2 years old, so obviously I don't particularly remember much about it! However, it's always been somewhere I've wanted to go back too, and not just Sydney. I don't know what it is about Australia, but it's so stunning, it really is. There are so many places to visit, sights to see, and the lifestyle is just simply magical. It's like Disneyland Paris, but for adults!

Times Square: I'm going here in December, I'm going here in December, I'm going here in December. Seriously, I am so freaking excited! Okay, so it's not going to be New Years Eve, but it will be Christmas and that means (hopefully) snow, snow, and yet more snow. Christmas shopping, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, Ice Rinks! New York has to be the most amazing place in the whole entire world, and I just cannot believe I'm getting the chance to actually go! Spending three days with my best friends, in the City that never sleeps; perfect perfect perfect

There are loads more places that I want to visit when I'm older, but I'd be here all night posting pictures and writing about it! Enjoy! X

I want

I want an email back. I want work experience. I want enough money. I want to stop stressing. I want September to arrive. And December. I want to fulfill my dreams. I want a Marc Jacobs handbag. I want to afford Chanel and L.K Bennett. I want to own 40 perfume bottles. I want to meet Gizzi Erskine. I also wouldn't mind meeting Victoria White. I want to be classed as an inspiration. I want to find a perfect hairdresser. I want to move to New York/London. I want to be recognised for my writing skills. I want to end up working on Company/Cosmopolitan Magazine. I want to go on the Television. I want to do exceptionally well at University. I want to make everyone proud. I want to have a famous persons number in my BlackBerry. I want to visit Los Angeles and California. I want someone to sing to me. I want to have no money worries. I want to find my perfect house. I want to get married when I'm older. I'm not particularly sure about the idea of children. I want people to remember me. I want to design my own fashion line. I want my dreams to never end. I want someone to look at me and say "You are one of the most fantastic writers I've ever known". I want to be artistic. I want to be able to sing. I want to star in a movie. I want Michael Buble to sing to me actually. I want to dye my hair purple. I want to get more than one tattoo. I want to get my blog even more recognised. I want to win the lottery. I want my family to be happy and healthy forever. I want my University friends to stay in my life forever.

I want doesn't get you anywhere.

Maybe I should start thinking about the things I need?

A watched phone never rings, just like a watched clock never moves.

Where do I want to be in 10 years?

If someone asked me this question however many years ago, I honestly wouldn't of been able to have given them a straight answer. However, fast forward to now and if someone asked me this again, I'd probably end up boring you with my dreams, ambitions and aspirations. It fills me with such pride to be able to say that I know where my life is heading, and that I have something to aim towards. I'm soon to be starting my second year at University, where I am studying Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing, and I'm currently in the process of looking for Work Experience. Working in the Magazine Industry hasn't always been clear to me that it was what I wanted to do, but after countless interviews at the College that I attended, I finally decided that it was something I really wanted to pursue a career in.

To be honest, I've always loved anything Magazine related, and I'm always buying the glossies (my favourites are Company and Cosmopolitan). I love fashion, photography and beauty, and I adore writing about anything and everything. For the past two years, I have been writing a monthly article for my local Newspaper, and even though I don't get paid, I do it for the sheer joy and the plain ole experience. I believe that if you work hard for something, it'll be worth it in the end.

I suppose, back to the question, in ten years I hope I'll end up working for a Magazine such as Company or Cosmo. These two are the queens of the Magazine Industry in my eyes, and it'd be the most amazing thing if that happened. I want to end up as a Columnist, such as Jameela Jamil, where I get the chance to write about things that I love, things that I hate, and updates in what's happening to me and my life. It excites me greatly to think about the future, as I can honestly say it's going to be an incredibly fantastic journey.

Dress like a Celebrity for less.

Who doesn't want to look like their favourite celebrity? I for one love reading all about their latest outfits, and drooling over their designer shoes, dresses and especially their handbags. I'm sure I'm not the only girl that simply adores handbags, shoes and anything fashionable. It's times like these that I absolutely yearn to be incredibly rich, where I can afford labels such as L.K Bennett, Chanel, Gucci and so much more. My favourite celebrity outfits are Kate Winslet (the poster girl for making jeans and t-shirts look so fashionable), Jennifer Aniston (who never puts a foot wrong) and Gizzi Erskine (the girl that mixes punk with vintage & looks so gorgeous).

In this particular blog post, I'm going to review celebrity outfits, and see if I can find similar clothes for much much less! By the end of reading this, I'm sure you'll be looking just as gorgeous as the celebrities do!

Kate Winslet: In this particular photograph, Kate has teamed a simple pair of dark blue jeans with a plain black vest, and a grey and black blazer. This is probably one of the most easiest outfits to recreate, and at a fraction of the price that this one probably cost. You may not get something that's completely similar, but if you look around some of your favourite shops, then you are definitely bound to find something you like! After searching through a few of my most loved fashion websites, I think I've found some items that you'll love...

Jennifer Aniston: This is a pretty simple outfit, and Jen, once again, has managed to pull it off with elegance, style and femininity. It seems to me that she just can't put a foot wrong in the style stakes. Whether she's dressing down and keeping it casual, or stepping out onto the red carpet, she always gets it so right. She's got a fabulous figure for her age, so this is probably one of the many reasons why everything suits her down to the ground. Even though she hasn't even got many acccessories on, this outfit just transforms and comes completely to life. Me? Jealous? Never! So, here's how to dress like Jen, without breaking the bank...

Gizzi Erskine: I'm kind of assuming that not everyone will know who Gizzi Erskine is, so I'll tell you. She's a celebrity chef/food writer/tv presenter, and she's a bit of a legend when it comes to fashion sense. She's described her style as "60s meets punk", and I couldn't describe it better myself. Her make up and hairstyle is something straight out of Breakfast at Tiffany's, and her outfits are always so cute. Whether it's a tartan dress like the one in this picture, or high waisted trousers and shirts, she's always got her finger on the fashion button. Gizzi is incredibly fashionable, and she's one to look out for, so that's why I've mentioned her. Here are a few bits of clothing that'll make you look just like her...

Today

has been a very, very good day. After writing my last post about Victoria White, I sent it to her on Twitter, she viewed it and in her words, LOVED it. Seriously, I cannot stop smiling right at this moment. She's said that she's mentioned it on her outfit blog on the Company Website, and I can honestly say that it's the biggest honour for me. All I want to do is get my blog noticed, and for people to recognise that I am a good writer, and that all I want to do is follow my dreams and ambitions. My blog has been mentioned a few times today now after that, mainly from the rest of the Company Magazine team, and I'm such a happy bunny right now! So, thank you to everyone that has read it, and passed it on. It's gained me a few more followers, and yeah, basically I'm getting there! I will, hand on heart, get daisykisses recognised even more! Until next time fellow bloggers :) X

Style Crush: Victoria White

Victoria White, who is the Editor of Company Magazine, is a huge huge style icon. It doesn't matter what she wears, she always manages to make it look fabulous. Whether that be a chunky winter dress teamed with tights and boots, or a knee length skirt, blazer and heels, Victoria has the ability to look so beautiful. She's fashionable, gorgeous, super cute, and I also love the accessories that she wears with all her outfits. Yes, I know she has a great job, and with that job probably comes a lot of money, so she can afford big labels, but I totally look up to her, and basically, she's just a bit of a legend. If she wasn't so lovely, I'd be 100% jealous!

All photos are taken from the Company Website :)

it's time to shop!

It's only the middle of August, yet the weather feels like we're going through the months of January/February! Gone are the days of sunbathing in the garden, swimming at the beach, and walking around with summer dresses and gladiator sandals. I know it's England we're talking about, but my god, our summers have been disappointing to say the least. However, on a lighter note, I love shopping for winter clothes and coming home with stock loads of purchases.
I've just made a polyvore all of my favourite a/w clothes, and I'm now excited to go out there and buy loads! At the moment, my favourites are definitely oversized jumpers and shirts, teamed with dark blue skinny jeans. In my opinion, jeans and jumpers are a staple favourite in our wardrobes, and they seem to never go out of fashion. I'm also in love with the biker look boots that are out at the moment, and if you find ones you like, then I'd definitely recommend you snap them up, before someone else does! They are super cute, and punky at the same time. All I can say now is; bring on pay day!

Hello New York

So in just under 4 months, I'll be heading to the beautiful city of New York. Along with my Uni lecturers and course mates, we will be spending three days in the City that never sleeps. I'm so incredibly excited as I've always wanted to go to America, and New York is my favourite place of all time! My friend and I have already planned everything that we are going to be doing, the places we will visit, and the things we are going to buy. Marc Jacobs, the Sex and the City Tour, Legally Blonde and the Statue of Liberty are just a few things we'll be experiencing. I'm forever counting down the days until the 2nd December arrives, and I know I'll be as excited then, as I was when I was a little kid waiting for Santa to arrive! You know what they say, "Let's hear it for New York, New York, New York!" Bring it on!

Style Crush: Rihanna

I love Rihanna, mainly because she's just so bloody gorgeous. Her outfits are pure class, and I love her new flaming red hairstyle. Only Rihanna would be able to pull that off, and make it look super cute. Whether she's going through a biker chic look, or a glitzy look for premieres, she always manages to make it look just right. I salute her 100%, and I can honestly say that she is a total legend, and I can't wait to see what else she manages to rock! Rihanna, we love you!

100% annoyance

I'm normally a pretty laid back person, and nothing really fazes me that much, however there are times when I just feel the need to sit down and write a bloody good rant. There are people out there that just grate on me; the things they do, the things they say, just them in general to be honest. It annoys the hell out of me when I go out of my way to do something nice, and they can't even be bothered to write back something worthwhile. It's almost like "oh i've heard it all before, I know how much everyone loves me". Please guys, take a step back and see what you are turning into. Another thing that riles me is cockiness, and smugness. Put them two together, and bloody hell, you've got a lethal combination!

I'm not going to name names, as that isn't what I'm about, but there's someone in particular that has this down to a T. They're on Twitter, and all of their followers pretty much worship the ground they walk on, and yes, they take the time to reply to most of them, and say thank you blah blah blah, but after a while, you can tell that they just can't be bothered! Excuse me, aren't we the ones that got you here? Made you become this particular person, and so famous and well known? Hmm, obviously not judging by the way you treat some of us.

I'm sorry guys, I'm in a bad mood now, and I hate posting blogs that are just rant mode, but it had to be done! I promise that tomorrow, I will be back to blogging my lovely and stress free blogs again! Ciao! xx

Cook-a-holic!

I'll admit now that I've never been one for cooking from a recipe book, but that was until I discovered Gizzi Erskine, who in my opinion, is a bit of a legend. Gizzi is on a mission to get young people into healthy eating, and cooking food that doesn't take too long to create. Being a 20 year old Uni student, I totally fit into this category, and so a budding relationship was born. I received her cookery book 'Gizzi's Kitchen Magic' for my birthday, and it's definitely a 5* book if I'm being honest. It's got a variety of different recipes, ranging from Blond Rocky Road, to Thai and Mango Salad. Whatever you are looking for, I can guarantee you will find it in this beautiful, quirky book.

So far, all I have cooked is Millionaire Shortbread and Marbled Chocolate Brownies, and both of them tasted absolutely divine. Okay, so I'll admit, neither of them looked like they did in the book, but hey, as long as they tasted good, that's all that matters, yeah? Anyway, I'm not a professional, and I'm a firm believer that if something tastes lovely, then it really doesn't matter THAT much if it doesn't look perfect. Unless you're serving it to someone special, or at a dinner party, which I wasn't, then it's not 100% important. Both recipes were so super easy to make, and there were hardly any ingredients to buy (which is always an added bonus), and I enjoyed every single minute of it.

Gizzi is the poster girl for the new chef on the block, and she's won so many people over with her funky and cute way of doing things. She's not stuffy, she's not patronising, and she's certainly not into all this fussy, fussy way of doing things. She's a total breath of fresh air, and you really couldn't ask for much more. I find cooking a hell of a lot more enjoyable when the chef I'm following is so bloody passionate about what they are doing. I love it when I see someone that genuinely adores their job, as I feel that comes across to us, their fans.

I'm blogging all about Gizzi and her book, not just because I'm a huge fan of both, but also because I want people to read this, and hopefully part with their money and purchase the book! Seriously, believe me when I say it's worth every single penny! I totally understand that cooking isn't everyone's cup of tea, and I was like that at first, but give it a go, and you just may be pleasantly surprised.
Now, I must go and flick through my cookery book, that Earl Gray Chocolate Fudge Cake recipe is calling my name.

IKEA overload!

I am so excited, seriously! I moved into my new flat in Southampton last month with one other friend, and I can't wait to go back again and do a huge overhaul and completely decorate everything! My bedroom will be super cute when I'm finished with it, and I'm so psyched to go to IKEA and buy lots of sparkly and pretty things for my room. Living in a flat on my own with my friend is going to be pretty scary, but I'm just so excited to have my own place, and be 100% independant. Of course there are going to be bills, and rent, blah blah blah, but come on, how much fun is it going to be? My friends and I are all loving having our own place, and we've already made plans for all the parties, sleepovers and get togethers we are going to have when we're finally back at University. I love that I can now say I have a flat to call my own! :)

How hard can it be?

At the moment, I'm looking for Work Experience for my University degree. I'm going into my second year in September, where I'm studying Magazine Journalism and Feature Writing. Work Experience is so important and so essential for my course, and I never realised it would be so hard to find something. Seriously, I literally cannot count how many emails I have sent, and I can count on one hand how many replies I've had; (all bad news though, which doesn't count at all!). I'm getting a bit panicky because I don't want to go through my second year having nothing at all, but I just can't see me getting anything this summer. Fingers crossed I can get some for maybe Christmas or Easter time, wish me luck!!

neglected

I've totally been slacking on my poor little blog, so I'm determined to make up for it now. I've been working so much recently trying to earn a bit of £££, as I'm going to New York in December with my Uni course, and that certainly isn't cheap! Anyway, I've been incredibly rushed off my feet, and I've not really had time to sit down and write on here about things that have been happening; anyway, I don't think any of you would find my life that interesting at the moment!

Anyway, I promise 100% that this week I will make up for neglecting this, as I have a week off from work :)

for now my lovelies xx

Celebrities.

Celebrities rule our world, or so to speak. It's true though isn't it? Every magazine you read has our favourite celebrities gracing the front pages of our glossies, and more so recently, there have been copious amounts of programmes revolving around the lives of such famous people. From Dannii Minogue's new "Style Queen", to Katie Price's "classy" wedding, everywhere you look they are there.

Don't get me wrong, I love reading about my favourite celebrities as much as the next person, but after a while, I admit I find it a tad tedious. I get pleasure at reading about Kate Winslet (my absolute favourite actress) and Gizzi Erskine (my absolute favourite chef), mainly because they don't crave so much media attention. They're both pretty grounded, and they stay out of the spotlight most of the time.

To be honest, I guess celebrities such as Kerry Katona and Katie Price want to gain as much coverage as humanly possible, probably because they aren't really that popular for what they do, but c'mon guys, is anyone else getting seriously bored? I want to turn on my Television and watch something worthwhile, and something that I'll enjoy, instead of watching something that makes me want to curl up and die.

I'm not a moaner, and I'm not a boring person that doesn't want to hear or see anything celebrity related, but all I'm saying is that I want to see something fresh. Something new, something exciting, instead of the same old rubbish. But what can I do? Unless I physically march to the TV studios and demand something else, I can't really see anything new happening in the near future, so maybe I'll just grin and bear it.

Now, where did I put my remote control?
