2010 in photographs

2010 hasn't been the most fantastic year for many reasons, but it's also had it's good points. I've just put together some of my favourite photos from the past year, of me and my friends just having a good time, and then one of my doing what I do best (drinking! ha!). Hope everyone has a fantastic night, and gets completely wasted, it's the only way.

Here's to 2011! xoxo

reflect and manifest: 2

December 22 – Travel - How did you travel in 2010? How and/or where would you like to travel next year? (Author: Tara Hunt)

I travelled to Greece in June with my mom, which was amazing and so beautifully hot, and then I travelled to New York at the beginning of this month which was the best three days of my life. It's the most beautiful city, and I literally felt myself being swept into their way of life; it's totally something I can imagine myself doing in a few years time. Next year, I would love to travel to Los Angeles. This is another place I've wanted to go to for ages, but it's just the money situation I guess. We may be going to Tokyo with our Uni course, so that could be fun, we'll see how it all goes.

reflect and manifest

New Name - Let’s meet again, for the first time. If you could introduce yourself to strangers by another name for just one day, what would it be and why? (Author: Becca Wilcott)

I love the name Kate, I don't know why. I'm not entirely sure if it suits me, but that's probably just because I'm used to the name I already have. Imagine though, starting your life all over again, new name, new identity, new everything. No one knows what you were like in your previous life; starting again, wiping the slate clean. I'm not sure if that's a good thing?

addictions

I'm addicted too:

-Nicki Minaj's album; Pink Friday.
-& Rihanna's as well; Loud.
-Getting healthy and eating well now that Christmas is over.
-Mac Cosmetics
-Shopping (what girl isn't?)
-'Friends'. I never used to watch it when it was still being filmed, but now I LOVE IT!
-Starbucks.
-Tumblr, and making my page as pretty as possible (lozzycakes.tumblr.com)
-The smell of my new perfume, and Victoria's Secret body mist.
-Writing down all my thoughts on my laptop, or in a notebook.
-Cute nail varnish.
-Pretty shoes.

some of my new loves.

I bought this (obviously) when I was in New York, from Victoria Secret, and it smells so beautiful. It was like $22 for two bottles, and it's just gorgeous. I wish more than anything we had that store in England, it's my new favourite.
I've never used MAC make up before, but after seeing how good it was when my friend used it, I snapped some up in New York. Expensive, but oh so worth it. This powder gives me a flawless look, and gives me a great colour as well, it's fantastic.

This foundation is perfect. Believe me when I say, I've tried endless brands of foundations in the past, and I've never found my 'perfect' one. This one, however, is just what I've been looking for. It applies really well, and makes my skin look really good. It's pretty pricey, but it's quite a big size so I'm assuming it will last me a long time. Money well spent I think!

Does anyone else use MAC make up? Love it as much as I do? (:

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE <3

my favourite photographs

It's the most wonderful time of the year

Merry Christmas to all my beautiful followers. I hope you all have a wonderful day, and a truly fantastic New Year! Here's to 2011 hopefully being tons better than 2010 ever was.

I'm so excited to open presents, and I still have a stocking at the end of my bed. That's one tradition that will NEVER get old for me. Does anyone else still have one, or is it just me? :)

I kinda know what I'm getting for Christmas, and because I
got like £200 off my parents for New York, I'm not getting that much, but it's cool. I know I've got Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume, which I've wanted for AGES! Such a beautiful perfume.

I cannot believe I go back to University in less than two weeks already, seriously where has the time gone? I'm totally not looking forward to tutorials and getting my grades back. If I don't do well in these assignments, I think I might cry; no joke.

Anyway, hope everyone gets what they wished for on Christmas Day :)

xoxo

questions; a little bit more about who I am.

1. What is your dream job?
My dream job changes every second of every day. One minute I want to be a feature columnist, then I want to be an art director, and at the moment I want to be a magazine editor. So, who knows?

2. What is your favourite fragrance for winter?
To be honest, I wear fragrance no matter what the season is. I love anything that is fruity and girly, ranging from Sarah Jessica Parker's latest one, to Marc Jacobs Daisy.

3. How do you take your tea/coffee?
I don't drink either, cannot stand the taste of them.

4. What is your most important beauty secret?
I don't really have one to be honest. My skin isn't perfect, but I guess the most vital ones I do is make sure I always take my make up off before I go to bed, and I always try and remember to cleanse, tone and moisturise. It really makes a difference to my complexion.

5. If you had an all expenses paid vacation anywhere, where would you go?
Where wouldn't I go? If I had to choose just one place, then I would go to New York. I went there at the beginning of this month, and completely fell in love with it. It's the most beautiful city I've ever been too, and I would jump at the chance of spending weeks there, spending far too much money, drinking far too much Starbucks, and just having the best time. Bliss!

6. If a genie popped in your lap right now and offered you three wishes what would they be?
My first wish would be that 2011 will be a much happier and less stressful year than 2010.
Second wish would be that I get excellent grades at University, and land my dream job at Company Magazine.
Third would be that I could win the lottery, get loads of money and never have to worry again.

7. If you could only have breakfast, lunch, dinner or dessert foods for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?
Lunch, definitely. I hardly ever eat breakfast, and I'm not really a dessert person. Can't live without lunch.

8. If you had the chance to pick a famous person for your other half to meet, who would you choose for them?
Seeing as I don't have an other half, I'm thinking that will be pretty tricky to do.

9. What is your biggest make-up pet peeve?
Far too much fake tan, stupidly long fake eyelashes, bright bleached blonde/black hair, and stupid amounts of lipgloss, foundation, mascara and other make up these girls wear. It just looks completely horrific.

10. If you could wear only one piece of jewellery for the rest of your life what would it be?
Either a big ring, some cute earrings or a nice necklace.

11. What one talent do you wish you had?
That I could be artistic. I'm extremely jealous of anyone that can draw.

12. The product you will continue to purchase?
I've recently gone over to the MAC make up, and I will NEVER go back. It's amazing.

13. If you could look in to the future would you? What would you want to know?
No way. It's pretty scary to think about the future anyway, so there is no way I would want to live my life, knowing what's going to happen, step by step.

14. Who is your biggest celebrity crush?
Michael Buble is beautiful. Oh, and Josh Duhamel and Ryan Reynolds.

15. What made you start a blog?

I wanted to write about things that interested me, and I wanted somewhere that I could showcase my writing skills. It's definitely the best decision I ever made, I love blogging.

my favourites

To pass the boredom that is currently overwhelming me, I thought I would sit and compile a list of all my favourite things that I have loved this year. Whether it be websites, pictures, people, clothes, etc, I'm just going to show everyone all the things I like :) Hope everyone is getting excited about Christmas, and isn't slowly freezing to death in this weather! xoxo

My favourite websites:
www.throughthecottagedoor.co.uk- I came across this super cute website a few months ago, and instantly fell in l
ove with it. Filled to the brim with the most adorable things for your home, you really are spoilt for choice. And with prices that everyone can afford, you're bound to find something you love.
www.gizzierskine.com- As many people will know, I have huge admiration for Gizzi Erskine. I got her cookery book for my birthday this year, and it's simply brilliant. She's a culinary legend, and I love her TV shows. Her website is filled with recipes, blog posts, pictures, and so much more.

www.shop.loveheartsandcrosses.co.uk- Perfect website for the cutest jewellery around. Reasonably priced, and super adorable, I kinda fell in love with it when I first found it. Brilliant if you're stuck on what to get someone for Xmas!
www.weheartit.com- This website has free photographs that anyone can use for whatever they want. Some of the cutest pictures on there, and it's just so adorable. Love it.

My favourite pictures:

Well, who doesn't love cupcakes?

ADORE everything to do with Paris; beautiful city.

My new favourite city ever. Too much love for New York.

Hot chocolate and gingerbread men; perfect combination for a cold Christmas.

My favourite icons:

Kate Winslet- I've loved Kate Winslet since I first watched Titanic, and probably always will. I've seen pretty much all of her films, and she's a brilliant role model for showing you don't have to be a size zero to be beautiful and successful. I just think she's totally fabulous.
Gizzi Erskine- Like I said in my last post about her, Gizzi is probably one of my biggest icons. She's down to earth, talented and super lovely. I love her fashion sense, as it's quirky and different, yet still manages to look super fashionable. She writes for many different publications, and it seems there is no end to her talent.
Jo Elvin- Even though I'm not the biggest fan of Glamour Magazine anymore, Jo Elvin is a huge inspiration. She dropped out of University, and has worked her way up to where she is today. She's proof that you can make it, and if you work hard, and you're passionate about what you are doing, then you'll get to where you want to be in life.
My Mum- 2010 hasn't been the best year, for various reasons, but she's a true hero to me. Strong willed and hard working, she's everything I want to be when I'm a mum. I can talk to her about everything, and I know she will always be there for me. She gives the best advice, and we always have the best laughs, love her.

My favourite quotes:

"Find a job you love, and you'll never have to work a day in your life."
"Things change, friends leave, and life doesn't stop for anybody."
"
The hardest thing to do is leave your comfort zone. But you have to let go of the life you’re familiar with, and take the risk to live the life you dream about."
"One life, love it."

What are your favourite things? Compare, let me know :)

I'm NOT sorry

I'm sorry that I may not be perfect. I'm sorry that I can be bitchy. I'm sorry I'm not super beautiful. I'm sorry I don't have perfect skin. I'm sorry I don't know everything about fashion. I'm sorry I speak my mind. I'm sorry I laugh too loud. I'm sorry I can talk for hours on end. I'm sorry I can be immature. I'm sorry that I gossip. I'm sorry I don't follow the norm sometimes. I'm sorry I'm not a size zero. I'm sorry I like to do my own thing. I'm sorry I like to be individual. I'm sorry I like originality. I'm sorry I'm not the equivalent to Barbie.

DON'T BE SORRY FOR WHO YOU ARE. EVERYONE IS FABULOUS :)

I like who I am, and I like what I've become. I'm confident, I'm opinionated and yes, I speak my mind. I believe that everyone should have the right to say what's on their mind, and who cares if people don't like it? Whatever happened to freedom of speech? It's a free Country, and we aren't living in a world that means we get arrested if we say something someone doesn't like the sound of. I also believe that we should be prai
sed for having a bit of individuality, instead of being like everyone else. What's fun about being clones? I want us to celebrate being different, and that everyone is beautiful inside and out. If someone doesn't like the way you dress, or the way you've styled your hair, just tell them to fuck off. Sometimes, swearing can be good. I like being sure of myself, and I like the direction my life is heading. I may not be perfect, but maybe I don't want to be? I like that my friends think I'm funny, and you know that saying; I'd rather be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring. Throw your hands in the air, and just celebrate being alive.

That's all that matters.

& you can tell everybody

It's a little bit funny
This feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can
Easily hide

There are certain songs that make me think, and this is definitely one that does just that. Ellie Goulding has the most beautiful voice, and it's just so breathtakingly perfect. The video for this song is just so simple, and goes so well with the lyrics. I love listening to songs like this that I can listen to on repeat, and never get bored of listening to them. Sometimes I'm just in one of those moods, and cute music makes me smile. I love to just sit there and think about life, family, friends, etc, etc. Ellie Goulding is definitely growing on me, does anyone else like her music?

My new motto

I want to travel to Los Angeles, see the Hollywood sign, and go on a safari trip in Africa. The list is endless of all the places I want to see and visit, and it fascinates me just how many places there are that I still haven’t experienced. My travelling is limited to Greece, Spain and Paris. Nothing wrong with these places whatsoever, and I’ve had some of the best holidays of my life there, but I want more. I want to see sights that I’ve only ever seen on the Television or the Internet, and I want to meet people that live completely different lives to me.

Only recently, I got the chance to go to New York. I’ve never been to America before in my life, and New York has always been on top of my ‘places to visit’ list. I can honestly say it was the best three days of my life, and I felt like I belonged. I blended in with the masses of people, and I would walk through the busy streets of Times Square like I had been doing it since I could remember. New York is the most beautiful city you could ever have the pleasure of witnessing, and if I had the chance, I would move there in a heartbeat.

The sights there were just breathtaking, and I couldn’t quite believe I was finally there. American accents are my favourite, and I would walk along listening to people’s conversations, and I would find myself yearning to be able to speak like that. America is so different to England and I fell in love with everything that I came across. Okay, so the food portions were a tiny bit ridiculous, but isn’t that what America is famous for? I found pretty much everyone extremely friendly, and it made me realise that I still have so much more to see, to experience, to taste, and to view.

I guess what I’m saying is that travelling is the most wonderful thing you can ever do. It gives you the opportunity to see things you’ve only ever dreamt of seeing, and experiencing a taste of a life and culture you’ve never heard of before. I’m only twenty years old, and I already have itchy feet. I want to visit the most amazing places, and I want to take photographs of them so I can remember them when I’m much older. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity, and it’s a refreshing break from the norm of real life.

Life is only really beginning for me, and I want to take every opportunity that comes my way. I’m not going to stand by and watch life pass me by, because I don’t want to live with regrets, and I certainly don’t want to live my life constantly saying ‘what if?’ Life is far too short to live it carefully, and that’s why we have to be grateful for what we have, and just realise that we’ve got to do everything we’ve ever dreamed of doing.

So if you need a break, or just want to have a bit of fun, then do it. Life is so much more fun if you’re facing it with a smile. Think of all the places you’ve always wanted to visit, and just do it. Forget about the boring facts, and think about how much fun you are going to have. Life is fun, travelling is fun, and you can have fun too. Be aware of what you’ve got to do, and you’ll be fine.

Next time you’re at work/University, and you’re feeling a bit down, just think to yourself: Make the most of what I’ve got, and do something to make me smile. My motto from now on is always going to be “Life is so much more fun if you’re facing it with a smile.” Make it your motto too, and you won’t regret it.

I'm back!!

I'm back from New York, and I seriously had the most amazing time of my life. It's such a beautiful city, and you don't realise just how beautiful until you're standing there, surrounded by it all. We got there Thursday evening, and went straight to Times Square. One word: amazing! I've only ever seen pictures of it on the Internet, and standing in Times Square was just totally surreal. It just didn't feel like I was really there, but I soaked up every little thing. It's so amazingly busy and bustling, and I loved it. We were all exhausted from jet lag, but we were determined to make the most of every minute. We also went to Central Park, and we went ice skating (I didn't fall over, so proud of myself!!). We saw Ben Stiller (!!!!), because he was filming in the middle of Central Park, and we were standing right in front of him; so cool. Fifth Avenue is so amazing, and is definitely somewhere I want to live when I'm older. I bought far too many things, including Ugg boots, and a real Marc Jacobs purse! (More money than sense I'm thinking!!).

Seriously though, New York is definitely the best city in the world, and I had so much fun. Feel like I've gained far too much weight after the HUGE portions, but it was so worth it. The hostel where we stayed was pretty grim, and it kinda felt like I was staying in a prison cell, but that's just a minor detail I suppose. I'll post some pictures so you can see all the lovely little sights I saw :) enjoy!

HOW BIG are these portions?! It defeated me...

Chilling next to the film set, as you do.

Bloomingdales is my new love :)

Beautiful christmas tree.

The girls and I standing at the fountain used in Friends :)

Beautiful view from the Empire State Building

Empire State :) LOVED IT!

The biggest Barbie house I've ever seen; amazing!

Charlie and I with Minnie Mouse (see that bag? Wanted money!! Cheeky)

Good ole yellow cab!

Being the weirdos that we are :)

My favourite photo. Beautiful Times Square.

& again :)

Tiffany! I'm so rich ;)

I miss New York already, and it's definitely depressing being back in England, and having assignments and deadlines to face. Back to reality with a bang!

xoxo

Hello New York :)

So the time has arrived! Tomorrow, I will be heading off to the beautiful city of New York! I'm so excited, I've never been before, and aaaaah, I just can't wait :) I have far too many dollars to spend, and I'm determined to spend far too much of it! Sorry I haven't been blogging recently, I've been up to my ears in Uni work and deadlines, and packing for tomorrow. I promise when I get back I'll be blogging more, and do an extra special blog all about my trip!

till next week! xoxo
